Members of Petts Wood Lodge No. 5435 were delighted to welcome SERV Kent (Service by Emergency Response Volunteers) to their meeting held on 14th March 2026 at Oakley House, Bromley.
Following a brief administrative meeting, members were joined by partners and guests in the Lodge room to hear an engaging and informative talk from Trevor Sayer on the vital work carried out by SERV Kent, often known as the “Bloodrunners”.
SERV Kent is a team of dedicated volunteers who provide a free, out-of-hours transport service for the NHS. Their work includes the urgent delivery of blood for transfusions, support for local air ambulance services, and the transportation of essential medical supplies, including donor breast milk for neonatal units. Operating throughout Kent and the surrounding areas, their efforts play a crucial role in supporting patient care and saving lives.
The presentation was both fascinating and inspiring, giving all present a greater appreciation of the scale and importance of the service provided by these volunteers.

In support of SERV Kent, members and guests of the Lodge generously donated a wide range of raffle prizes at the Festive Board, enabling the Lodge to raise the impressive sum of £250 on the evening. This was further supported by a £200 donation approved by the Brethren earlier in the meeting, bringing the total contribution to £450.

Petts Wood Lodge was proud to support such a worthwhile cause and to recognise the outstanding work carried out by SERV Kent and its volunteers.
